I was chatting with a friend about how people use download tools, and it made me wonder if this changes how Instagram grows as a platform. If folks watch content offline or outside the app, does it reduce Instagram’s traffic and ad revenue? I once noticed I was spending less time scrolling because I had clips saved, so maybe it does affect the ecosystem. Do you think this slows down the platform’s development?

I think you’re onto something. Instagram makes money from people staying inside the app, so downloads could take away from that a little. But at the same time, having content saved can also keep interest alive. I sometimes use the SnapInsta app to grab tutorials, and weirdly, it makes me follow those creators more closely since I don’t want to miss new stuff. So it might be a double-edged sword — less ad time but more loyalty to the platform.
